LAKSHADWEEP
Lakshadweep : The tiniest Union Territory (UT) of India - Lakshadweep, an archipelago of
'Hundred Thousand Islands' in the Arabian Sea lie 325 Kms to the west of Kerala. It consists of
a cluster of twelve atolls, three reefs and five submerged banks. Of its 36 islands,
only 10 are inhabited. The palm-bedecked coral islands with wide sandy beaches have made them
away-from-it-all beach resorts. Bitra is the smallest of all and Bangaram Island with a total
area of 26.2 Sq. Kms, which was previously uninhabited, at present has a population of 61 persons.
